Easter Grit

This year will be the 40th year that Dave and have been attending Mt. Gilead Easter Sunrise Services. I think I missed one Easter, the year my Dad passed away, but we have pretty much always celebrated Easter at 6 am every year at Inspiration Point. Why? Yes of course, because we work here, but even if we didn't we would come. We love being out in the Redwoods and seeing friends and neighbors we don't typically run into during the year. We worship Jesus on top of a mountain at 6 am...where else does that happen around here? We close the morning with breakfast with friends and family around the table in the dining hall or outside on the deck if we prefer. If I were to give one of the most poignant take aways I have from the Easter Sunrise Service it is this...every year I see people with their little kids hike up that mountain or take a shuttle. It is dark, sometimes it is cold but they do it. These people have grit...they are determined to be there and they don't care about inconveniences they just want to celebrate together the resurrection of Jesus. These people remind my of the first century Christians, that due to persecution for their faith had to gather in the dark at inconvenient locations and times to worship Jesus...but they were determined...they had grit.

Friends, we would love to have you join us at the Easter Sunrise Service...it isn't fancy...but it is real deal worship in creation.
