When I was just a little girl, probably 3 or 4 years old I remember singing songs about Jesus at church. Our kids church music leader was the local TV personality that played the accordian. He brought to life songs like, "Jesus Loves Me", "I've Got the Joy" and "A Sunbeam". The songs planted some wonderful truths into my life. Truths like Jesus loves me and that the Bible is a source of truth. Joy comes from God. Jesus wants us to shine for Him in our world. These are huge truths and they go a long ways to quieting our souls when we are going through difficult times. In the Bible, music calmed anxious hearts, inspired courage, provided a way to express profound grief as well exuberant joy. But most importantly, worship in song was and is the way to heart of God, that is why it is so powerful. Music creates a powerful connection between God and his children. We bear his image...we bear his heart. Want to bask in the love and wonder of our maker. Sing some songs about Jesus. They don't have to be sophisticated songs, they just have to reflect truth. A good place to start is with, "Jesus loves me this I know. For the Bible tells me so. Little ones to him belong. They are weak. But He is strong."
"The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing." Zephaniah 3:17
