COVID-19 Information

For Mt. Gilead the year 2020 can best be summed up in three words, “Pray, Plan, Pivot”.  For 2021, we have the same strategy knowing that God is showing up in amazing ways, even though they are not always anticipated.  We are witnessing the truth, “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”  Isaiah 55:9


As we are preparing Men’s Conference 2021 with some unknowns regarding mandates, we wanted to keep you aware of our plans to make the conference memorable, encouraging, fun and safe.  Should we need to have outdoor meetings, we have the ability to open the chapel sliding glass walls on two sides to provide cross-ventilation.  We also have the Event Tent at our disposal if that is necessary.  We have ample room at Mt. Gilead to put family groups in separate accommodations, based on our average attendance for Men’s Conference.  There will be plenty of space for you to stay a healthy distance from others for your overnight stay.  We look forward to seeing how the Lord will move this year.

Dear Friends of Mt. Gilead,


Due to COVID-19, we are modifying our Women’s Retreat significantly to provide a fun environment with safety protocols in place.  We will be having a Women’s DAY Retreat on September 12th that will be entirely outside.  We need to make adjustments to some of our activities based on Sonoma County Health Guidelines.  We have a limit of 100 participants at the retreat.  Currently, we have 93 women signed up (based on our records from April’s planned retreat.)  If you signed up for the April retreat, but cannot attend the September retreat PLEASE let our office know as soon as you can.  We would love to serve as many women as possible, but it requires diligent and intentional planning to comply with various protocols.


We appreciate your patience with this unfolding work of God.  We don’t know all the details, but we are so grateful that Jesus does.  So we are proceeding prayerfully and patiently with careful attention to our local health mandates.

Dear Friends of Mt. Gilead,

We just concluded our first week of Summer Day Camp and it was awesome!  We are so grateful to all the parents that brought their campers every day for camp.  

In the past, we have been able to allow former staff or youth pastors to visit Mt. Gilead during summer camp day sessions.  We are no longer able to offer that with the strict COVID-19 guidelines which we MUST adhere to for the safety of our campers and staff.  There are no exceptions. Thank you for understanding that the integrity of this ministry and the ability to operate is at stake.

Dear Friends of Mt. Gilead,

Summer Day Camp begins tomorrow!  We are very excited to welcome day campers, 1st-8th grade, to Mt. Gilead.  It is a privilege to provide this service to families in our community who desire time for their children to be outside having fun and growing in their faith, while providing parents the opportunity to return to work or just have a break. 


Our ability to run this day camp program is based on closely following our local health orders.  It must be acknowledged, however, that the complete elimination of risk is not possible. We must continue to operate as a community that watches out for each other’s safety as well as our own.  One key part of maintaining a lower risk environment is not only our actions on site, but each family’s actions when not at camp.  We encourage families to follow the recommendations set forth by the Sonoma County Health Officials, i.e. wearing a mask when in public and practicing sanitation and practicing social distancing.


We recognize it is a privilege that we have been given to operate this summer.  We thank God for this opportunity to encourage, challenge and nurture your child in their walk with Jesus.  Thank you for your allowing us this honor.

We are excited to share with you, that while operating within the County Guidelines we will be able to offer Day Camps at Mt. Gilead this summer. You can check our summer camp page for more information, but we wanted to thank you for your prayers as our staff have worked tirelessly to explore every possible way to serve your children this summer in a framework that is both safe and fun. We are so grateful to the Lord for the opportunity to share the love and hope of Christ with kids. Thank you for your partnership in this ministry. We couldn’t do it without you!

Dear Friends of Mt. Gilead


Over the last few weeks many people have been asking how things are going at Mt. Gilead.  To be honest, it is a challenging time, as it is for many of you.  Since the beginning of March many of our guest groups have cancelled and we ourselves have cancelled or postponed three of our own programmed events in response to safety concerns regarding COVID-19. Mt. Gilead will not have any revenue in the foreseeable future without campers and guests to serve this spring.  And while many other camps have ties to their denominations, Mt. Gilead does not have such funding resources.  We rely entirely on our fees and the generosity of our donors.


WHAT WE ARE DOING:  We have effectively shut down Mt. Gilead except for maintenance work and minimal critical office and program work that is being done at home.  Staff have had their hours greatly reduced to a minimum commensurate with a greatly reduced salary.  


OUR PLAN FOR SUMMER:  We plan to operate summer programs if there are no bans on large group gatherings and medical experts determine it is reasonable to gather together for summer camp. These conditions must be met for summer camp to proceed.  Our highest priority is the health and safety of our campers and staff. We are constantly monitoring the coronavirus outbreak and will adjust our programs as needed.


These are the plans we are working towards, recognizing that God is sovereign, we are holding things loosely with faith that the Lord is at work.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:  Please pray for our staff as they are living on very little income and please pray for campers and their families as they struggle in uncertain times.  Lastly, if you can give please do.  We long to see the ministry of Mt. Dear Friends of Mt. Gilead,​


We wanted to let you know that the Mt. Gilead staff are praying that you and your loved ones are staying healthy during this current COVID-19 coronavirus. We are grateful for the assurance and comfort we find in our faithful and loving God who holds the whole world in His hands.

As we seek to serve the Lord and His people during this challenging time, we are implementing extra safety measures to protect those we serve, as well as our staff and volunteers. While there is no known direct contact with the virus at our camp, we have implemented the following measures in compliance with the Sonoma County Health Department and the Center for Disease Control.  

High contact surfaces such as door knobs, tables, light switches, faucets and handles will be disinfected multiple times a day. In addition to our regular thorough cleaning, we are asking staff, guests, and campers to wash their hands often for 20 seconds or more and will make available hand sanitizer. 

We are in communication with and abide by the Sonoma County Health Department’s direction regarding the most current counsel and advice. As of now, we are postponing our Men’s Conference to October 17-18 and Women’s Retreat to September 11-13, 2020.  We have unfortunately cancelled our Easter Sunrise Service, but our Summer Camp programs will continue as planned. Unless regulations and health instructions change, then we will adjust and inform you immediately if things change regarding our events.  

As always, be assured of our prayers and concern for you and your loved ones.  The Lord will see us through this trial.

Mt. Gilead is a Christian camp and conference center in northern California. We rent our facilities to churches and other Christian organizations. We also run summer camps for children from 1st grade-12th grade. Throughout the year, we host quality Christian programs for adults.
