What’s on Jesus’ iPod?
Music is ever changing. It impacts and establishes culture and defines generations. Youth in the 1920′s saw Jazz as new and rebellious. How is it seen now?
Every generation connects with and relates to, the music of their time. Music communicates, teaches, and motivates. From helping a 5 yr old learn their ABC ‘s to pumping-up the crowd before the Big Game, music effects every area of life. Given he impact music has on our lives it prompts a serious question: what kind of music is on Jesus’ iPod?
What kind of music does Jesus listen to?
What kind of music does Jesus listen to? Is Jesus an organ & hymns kind of guy or does he listen to rockin’ bands, clapping His hands, and jumping in excitement? It’s my estimation that he enjoys anything that honors God. I believe that what most honors God is when His children focus on who He is (His majesty, His holiness, His love). That is the essence of worship. Whether you choose bluegrass or heavy metal – do it all to the praise and glory of God. I wonder if that diversity is what David meant in Psalm 150, when he mentions dancing and cymbals as expressions of worship.
This summer Mt Gilead presents ROCK EPIC . We will engage with students in their time and in their culture with the timeless message of God’s truth, His great love & righteousness. The message will not change but the way we communicate must connect. And this summer… we connect
with Rock.
